HOW BIG IS THE PLANT?The larger the plant, the more difficult it is to move. Besides the fact that a large plant can weigh quite a bit, you don't want to damage it. Bind the leaves together for large plants, or ask them if they can pack them for transport. This can be done by wrapping a piece of plastic or paper around it so the leaves stay compactly together. Smaller plants can be put in a box or bag for transport. WHAT KIND OF WEATHER IS IT OUTSIDE?You don't want your plant to get cold while being transported, so it's best to wrap it and keep it out of the wind. Plants can be damaged from the cold. This is also one of the reasons that online plant shops do not ship in freezing temperatures and/or add a heat pack. WHAT MODE OF TRANSPORTATION ARE YOU ON?Are you traveling by car or public transportation? Or by bike? Pack your plant appropriately and again take into account the weather conditions, do not put your plant in your bicycle basket in cold temperatures. But don't put it against the heater of your car either.
And finally you find him the appropriate place. You can of course just put it where you like it, but chances are that will not work. Inform yourself about the best place for your plant, more info about light can be found here. PLANTS BY MAILWhen you choose to purchase plants online they usually come to you by postal package. Packing a plant properly for shipping is an art and very important, once it arrives it is best to let the plant acclimate in the box for a while before unpacking it. Then do the same as described above when you get it home. Enjoy your new plant! Planning to send plants yourself? Read my tips & download my FREE plant proof shipping labels here. Did you like it? Yay! New month, new plantshop. This month I'd like to introduce you to Plantwerp! Monday, May 24, rain or no rain I am going to visit a plant shop today! Soaked from the rain I walk into Plantwerp on the vrijdagmarkt . A super cozy store in the bustling heart of Antwerp. At a safe distance I meet the owner Gaëlle. Where does your passion of green come from? From home, I've always helped in the garden etc. Then in my adolescence the interest there is a little weakened, the interests were at that age a little different but once I started living together I really wanted some green in the house. To really furnish our own place. So for the housewarming I had asked to bring a plant, with the result that we soon had a larger number of plants in the house. And that's how it all started, I was missing a store like this here in the city center. Without flowers, the non-classical concept. Focusing more on aesthetics, purely on plants, more special houseplants and not on flowers or flowering plants. And so it happened,...
Do you offer anything else besides plants? I see a lot of nice pots and assocoires in the shop. Yes, in most stores you have the plants and pots separate, everyone in his department. But here everything is suggested in combination but everything is for sale separately. I bet very hard on all ceramic pots, nothing plastic, many handmade and also many Belgian. You can also find some assecoires, nutrition, grow kits, watering cans,.... Do you have a nice anecdote or story you want to share with us? Haha yes I was asked that question once, the very first time I had a monstera variegata in the shop, it was pretty big. I posted this on instagram and less than 5min later someone in her jogging pants came running to buy the plant. She immediately jumped out of her seat and ran here for the monstera, of course she was the first and had the plant. I find this a funny memory, that she herself hadn't bothered to get dressed and immediately came for the plant. Of course, the offer varies regularly, so I recommend

Larger plants should have their leaves and branches tied together to prevent them from snapping during transport. Don't tie them too tightly, wrapping them in plastic or paper can also offer a solution here. Check your plants for bugs before transporting them all together. Here we goPlants are sensitive to temperature fluctuation, so pay close attention if you are moving during a colder period. Pack your plants against the cold. Smaller plants can be put together in the box, put some crumpled up newspaper between the pots to keep the plants in place. Larger plants are best wrapped in paper or bubble wrap, possibly even a moving blanket. Place the plants in the (moving) cart in such a way that they have nowhere to go and nothing can land on them. I remember when we moved that I had put myself in the back of the van to help the monstera, hahah what a farce that was! (and really don't, because it wasn't that safe at all - though it was less than a 10min drive) arrivedOkay you survived the ride and the plants have arrived, think carefully about where you are going to put them. Each plant has its own needs, to learn more about the light needs of your plant I recommend you read on here. Not only light, but also temperature and humidity are important factors. Do you find no place for your plant, because your previous home was completely different in terms of light and space? Then see if you can donate your plant or take it to a plant shelter. You don't want it to languish sadly in a corner. But also take into account the change, was that one plant in your previous home in a light but quite cool place? Then perhaps it is not ideal to put it on a floor with floor heating. Changing the location of plants can confuse them, keep an eye on them and anticipate. And above all, give each other time. If your plant now moves to a place with more light than before, let it get used to the new situation little by little and do not suddenly put it in full light. You yourself will also have to adjust to the new living situation.

AuthorCrazy plant lady who likes to inspire others! Everything I write here comes from my own experience, knowledge that I gained by reading books and on the internet. If I would literally copy someone's info, I would do my best to link it of course! Do you spot typos or do you have other concerns, let me know! Have fun reading! I've only just started writing English blogs since January 2021, that's why there are many Dutch blogs and not so many English ones.
