In the beginning I had all kinds of pots mixed together, any color or shape would do. As long as my plant would fit in them, the longer I worked with plants the more I started to get annoyed. Some pots I found so busy or present that the plant faded, or even the other way around, that a plant was so dominant that it might as well not have a pot at all. This gave rise to a sort of second hobby for me, the hunt for the cutest flower pots. For a while I had an 'I buy everything white'period, but that really didn't work for me. I think it is important that you look for what you like, what contributes to your interior and preferably something that was created sustainably. For me personally it became a lot of earth tones, a lot of brown and gray, also quite a few pots with more than 1 color or fun textures (I really like to feel with textures, can't help it) & some cute ones with a face! Here and there a basket, something funky with legs or a pattern. Or just a very dark pot to break up the scene. I really make it a sport and everywhere I see pots I look to see if I find something that I like. The penchant that arose for making the cutest match is also one of the many reasons that I really swear by the use of an pot insert/ growing pot. Super quick and easy to change the look of your plant and therefore your interior.
What I like about their collection(s) is that there is something for everyone, whether you like lots of color together or prefer something sleek and minimalist. Besides the flower pots for indoors and outdoors, you will also find a lot of nice additions for your interior and even for the table. I must confess that for a moment I was thinking of getting a new tableware set in the house, hahah! Besides design, D&M also has a love for nature, that's why all their products are mainly made of natural materials, like ceramic, wood, glass or reed. This is a topic that is very important to me, something that is as environmentally conscious as possible and preferably has a long life.

It is important to act in time to notice that your plant is suffering from insects, so we advise you to take a close look at your plants regularly. There does not have to be a noticeable damage to be bothered by insects. The sooner you can intervene the better. Regularly showering or spraying your plants can help prevent this. Recognize Fungus gnats are small black flies of a few millimeters in size that live in potting soil. Especially in warm and humid environments they can become a real plague. They look like fruit flies and are sometimes called mourning flies but they are actually mosquitoes. This mosquito continues to reproduce throughout its life so a small infestation can quickly become very large. They fly around looking for conspecifics and nutrient-rich soil and therefore spread very quickly. What do they do? They feed on both dead and living plant material. The fungus gnat do no harm except to lay eggs and fly around. However, their larvae eat the roots of plants. Especially if you sow and propagate a lot yourself, you will find that there are always fungus gnats. Cause There is no direct cause, they normally live in warm humid environments which is why greenhouses are more sensitive to them. Wet potting soil is a feast for the fungus gnat. How do you get fungus gnats in houseplants?
fungus gnats or fruit flies? fungus gnats and fruit flies do look similar at first. Yet they can be distinguished from each other:

Recognize Mealybugs can be recognized by their woolly layer and secretions they leave behind. You sometimes have to look hard for them, because they hide in leaf axils, bark or other sheltered places. There are several species of mealybugs, the two most common are: - Citrus mealybug (Pseudococcus citri). - Long-tailed mealybug (Pseudococcus longispinus). Mealybugs are one of the few pests that occur all over the world, most mealybugs can be found all over the plant. In the warmer seasons they lay their eggs, often 100 at a time, which hatch within 1 to 2 weeks. What do they do? Mealybugs suck plant juices and the excess sugars that they have sucked in, are excreted as a sticky substance. This is called honeydew. On this grows the black sooty mold, which significantly reduces the ornamental value and photosynthesis of the plant. This will weaken the plant and make it susceptible to other pests. Mealybugs are not harmful to humans. Cause They live in foci (large groups) and do not spread very quickly, they spread by cross-contamination through clothing or drafts. Humans are the biggest spreaders, they have no preference for certain circumstances. They can move through drafts, which is why it is better not to put plants in a draft. Control The annoying thing about the control of mealybugs is that they can stand the cold very well, easily down to -40 degrees Celsius. When you spot mealybugs you should remove as many as possible yourself, for instance with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol (nail polish remover or methylated spirits). Make sure you remove as many bugs as possible without damaging the plant too much. A strong spray of water from your plant sprayer or shower can also help. Repeat this process as often as necessary, if the infestation persists for a long time you should still use a biological or chemical treatment. Biological control

There does not have to be a noticeable damage to be bothered by bugs. The sooner you can intervene the better. Showering or spraying your plants regularly can help prevent them. Recognize The adult thripses are small, elongated insects with typical frill wings. Thrips are similar to thunderbugs. They are about 1 mm in size, grayish or yellow to brown in color. Adult thrips are conspicuously striped across and have a light wing pattern. The animal has a sucking snout and damages leaves with it. The most common thrips species are tobacco thrips and California thrips. Thrips lays its eggs in the leaf tissue which hatch after 8 days. The young larvae are whitish in color and live in groups, when older they spread individually. The larva will pupate after 14 days and from that moment on the thrips can fly and spread more easily. Adult thrips is often found on the top of the leaf. The larvae can be found on the underside of the leaf, in the soil or in sheltered places of the plant. Sometimes they can also be found in the flowers. The fact that thrips can fly is what makes this pest so dreaded. What do they do? Both young larvae and adult thrips damage the crop by sucking out plant cells. The emptied cells fill with air, giving a silvery appearance to the top of the leaf, on which black dots (the droppings) can be seen. Thrips is not picky and therefore all houseplants and ornamental plants are its target, thrips can however be infected with a virus that can be harmful to humans. Cause Thrips often occurs in rooms with low humidity. They can come in by the wind, around your clothes or your pet's fur, through a new plant... etc. Control Thrips is unfortunately quite difficult to control, over time they have become immune to many pesticides. Choose a chemical control and make sure you apply it multiple times to have the whole cycle with you. The house, garden and kitchen tip: Rinse the infestation with water and a solution of mild yellow soap (20g per liter of water) and 10 cc of fire spirit or methanol. Thrips do not like high humidity, increase it or spray your plant regularly. Biological control

Recognize Spider mites are between 0.2 and 0.5mm in size. Because they are usually on the underside of the leaf and move little, it is sometimes difficult to notice them quickly. It is a common pest in houseplants they affect the plants by extracting the nutrients. Your plant shows brown dots on the leaf, the leaves may turn completely brown and fall off. What do they do? They feed by sucking up the plant sap and because of this you get discolored leaves/dots on the leaves. A notable signal is the formation of small webs. When the time comes, it is best to have a large spider mite layer already present. Warm temperatures and dry air is ideal for the spider mite to expand. Cause Spider mites are especially active in warm and dry weather, but don't get caught, even in winter they are very active in the house due to the warm and dry air from the heating. Another cause can be; old potting soil. When the potting soil gets too old it does not contain as much nutrition anymore which is an ideal breeding ground for spider mites. A less healthy plant is often also an easy target for spider mites. They are harmful to your plants, not to people. Fight them To prevent them, you can regularly give your plants a shower and/or spray, just because spider mites like it dry. A second possibility is to treat your plant preventively with a pesticide. There are different ways to treat spider mites, both chemical and biological. To start with, it is best to remove the most affected leaves first, in case of a stubborn infestation it is best to go for a chemical pesticide. Spider mites have already built up a less strong resistance to pesticides than other aphid species. The tricky thing is that spider mites are small and therefore easily overlooked. Pay attention to your choice of pesticide, you have contact sprays - meaning you have to hit each mite to kill them - or sprays that are absorbed into the plant's sap stream. Biological control
Tip: Spray your plants with water containing a solution of 2% green soap and 1% methylated spirits and apply it in the evening. Lowering the temperature and increasing the humidity should also help against it. fact:The development of spider mites stops when the temperature drops below 12 degrees. The mite does not die but stops its development periodically. Did you like it? Please leave a 👍 below & follow my plant adventures on Instagram! Sources:
But it really started to itch, they don't call it spring fever for nothing. So I started thinking about whether I could grow something here. Our apartment has no terrace or windowsills, but there is a garage square behind it where some greenery is already growing. The neighbor (who also owns one of the garages) and I keep it a little clean but otherwise not much happens, except lots of visits from birds GETTING STARTED
The wall plant rack I received as a gift last summer and is of the brand Elho. I secretly hope that the willow here will grow nicely with us and hopefully later in our future garden it can become a big tree. I am really a fan of trees, they are so interesting. I have already planted a few strawberry plants and a lot of flowers, furthermore I think I will limit myself to tomatoes and peppers. I still have a little space left I think but I haven't decided what I want yet. Of course there will be some hefty sunflowers again but I hope not to keep them in a container. For the tomatoes, peppers and ??? I am going to use these two containers (see pictures below) I have a few like this at my dad's garden and am going to get them here next weekend. Within a week or two I plan to sow the tomato seeds. In advance I can't wait to see everything grow again. for those who want, just some useful links to the products used:
