1.2.3.Step 3: Choose your soil, you have a wide range of types of potting soil in the store or garden center. Personally I don't choose the cheapest but also not the most expensive and I always add perlite* to the soil. In this picture I also added some bark for the humidity of the soil. * What is perlite? Perlite is roasted volcanic rock that provides an airy substrate and better drainage. 4.5.Step 5: Finished! Water your plant well (if it is in a pot with holes), let the water drain out at the bottom and then put it in its new location in your ornamental pot. On the packaging of your soil you will find information for how long the plant is provided with nutrition from the soil. This is also the reason that you should not reuse old soil.

I repot a plant preferably shortly after purchase, this is to ensure that no bugs come in through the soil and so I immediately have a good picture of the plant roots. Be careful! I do not do this with every plant, some sellers advised you to wait a certain period with repotting and I have learned that sometimes you just have to listen ;) I do try to separate the new plant from my collection for a while to make sure there are no unwanted visitors on it. No place you say? I know that problem! When it comes to relatively small plants, a greenhouse or freezer bag can often be the solution (don't forget to air it out ;) ).
I currently have 2 humidifiers in my house. One is hidden in the jungle corner of our living room and the other is at the back at my desk. I'm going to tell you right away that I hardly use them during the winter months. You probably think that winter is just the moment you need them, don't you? Certainly because the heating goes on again and it dries out the air. That's right! It's just that we have an old building and because of its insulation (or just the lack of it?) something goes wrong here and some walls are mouldy and we try to keep the humidity down. No matter how, or what you use... it's still important to ventilate well every day, make sure your plants are not in the draught and then there's no problem. Your house has to be pleasant for your plants but also for us as humans and possibly children or pets. Below I show you which two models I have in my house.
There are many humidifiers and brands that offer them. When looking for the ideal humidifier for your home I would pay attention to its capacity (how many square meters can it handle) and what you find easy to handle. I don't find every humidifier easy to add, there are so many that you're sure to find one within your budget & otherwise you can get started with the free tips (top). Good luck and do not forget to ventilate ;) *This post was not sponsored in any way. This is not meant as advertising, and is purely my own opinion. Do you have a different experience? AuthorCrazy plant lady who likes to inspire others! Everything I write here comes from my own experience, knowledge that I gained by reading books and on the internet. If I would literally copy someone's info, I would do my best to link it of course! Do you spot typos or do you have other concerns, let me know! Have fun reading! I've only just started writing English blogs since January 2021, that's why there are many Dutch blogs and not so many English ones.
